Morris Tutoring began as
a one-woman operation in 1985. By 1990, the demand for quality tutoring
(and Susans limited ability to help with several high school subjects!)
led to incorporation and the hiring of capable associates in order to offer a
wider range of subjects and more flexibility in scheduling.
Susan taught special education for ten years prior to starting this service. She has a Masters degree in special education, with expertise and
experience in learning disabilities and multiple pathways for learning.
She now directs MTA, supervises and supports the tutoring staff, performs
academic evaluations, tutors students, and consults with parents and teachers.
At MTA, we pride ourselves on the quality of our instruction. We limit the number of students we accept to insure that we maintain our high standards. Weekend and evening sessions are offered, as well as parent consultation with the director, who can provide parents with ideas and teaching materials from our extensive resource library.
In addition to basic K-8 skills and remedial education, we offer help in specific high school
subject areas (math, sciences, writing, history, Spanish, French, Latin) and in preparing for high school and college entrance exams.
MTA tutors are interesting people with a wide range of experience:
former Montessori teachers, moonlighting teachers & professors,
an economist, and retired math and science professionals, to name a few. They are loyal, dedicated,
and love working with our students!
